The Creative Mind Philosophy
Adult Studios provide thoughtful, skills-based instruction in art, theatre, and stagecraft for beginning, returning, and experienced creatives. Whether developing a new artistic practice, returning to the stage, exploring theatrical design, or strengthening existing skills, students learn techniques and creative processes they can apply beyond a single project. Our studios provide a supportive place to continue learning, experimenting, refining, and developing meaningful creative work.
Adult Creative Studio Courses
Foundations of Art & Color Theory*
Build a strong foundation in watercolor while developing skills in brushwork, color theory, color mixing, value, washes, light and shadow, composition, and essential watercolor techniques.

Developing the Artist’s Eye (Dry Media Studio)
Strengthen observation and drawing skills through graphite and charcoal while exploring value, light and shadow, reflective surfaces, architecture, and landscape. Develop greater control of dry media while learning to see and interpret subjects with an artist’s eye.

Character Illustration
Develop original, portfolio-worthy characters through observation, reference drawing, gesture, expression, and multiple views. Refine your characters through intentional choices, feedback, and revision while working in the traditional drawing medium that best supports your artistic style.

Landscape Studio: Painting Light, Atmosphere, and Place
Develop expressive landscapes in watercolor and ink while strengthening composition, value, color, atmosphere, and depth. Complete two landscape paintings as you explore water, mountains, skies, and the finishing linework that brings each scene together.

*Foundations of Art and Color Theory and Designing the World of Theatre are the recommended starting points for students with little or no previous art or stagecraft experience. Students with prior experience may begin with another studio course based on their skills and readiness.
