Artists learn to see before they create.
The Art of Observation builds upon the principles introduced in Foundations of Art and Color Theory by helping students slow down, look with intention, and translate what they observe into meaningful artwork. Through observational drawing, charcoal studies, soft pastel exploration, and studio challenges, students strengthen their ability to recognize light, form, texture, composition, and visual relationships while developing confidence in their own artistic voice.
Rather than focusing on mastering a specific medium, students deepen the creative habits that can be applied across drawing, painting, illustration, design, and future Creative Studio courses. Every project encourages students to observe with curiosity, imagine new possibilities, create with purpose, and discover the stories that already exist within the world around them.
*Completion of Foundations of Art and Color Theory or instructor placement is recommended before enrolling in this Creative Studio. Students with previous art experience may be eligible for placement. Please contact us to discuss the best learning path for your student.
